Minos Garofalakis from TSI gave a keynote talk last week to the 8th ACM International Conference on Distributed Event Based Systems (DEBS 2014). DEBS is an important conference covering topics relevant to event based computing, as big-data and real-time analytics, mobile and pervasive computing, sensors networks and the internet-of-things, or cloud and peer-to-peer computing. It allows for the dissemination of original research, the discussion of practical insights, and the reporting of experiences relevant to these topics. The conference also aims at providing a forum for academia and industry to exchange ideas, for example, through industry papers and demo papers. In the talk, Minos introduced the distributed data streaming model, and presented recent work on tracking complex queries over massive distributed streams, as well as new research directions in this space.
