European Commission's DG Connect has launched a public consultation to define the upcoming research priorities in cloud computing for the Horizon 2020 ICT Work Programme for 2016 and 2017. All interested stakeholders (industry, research centres, academia, SMEs and users) are invited to contribute. More information can be obtained in the European Commission's website.

Pascal Felber from the University of Neuchâtel gave a talk on Research Challenges for Data Privacy in the Cloud at the Future Cloud Symposium, on 24th June, 2014. The event was a two day international symposium on the future of Cloud Computing hosted by EIT ICT Labs, in Rennes, France.

The OCEAN project, ClouT and SUCRE projects are organizing an EU-Japan collaboration workshop on cloud computing in Tokyo on 31st July. LEADS will be mentioned and presented as a representative cloud project during the workshop by OCEAN project members.

On Friday 27 June, the LEADS project will participate in a meeting with CloudSpaces at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland. CloudSpaces is a STREP research project funded by EC's FP7 aiming to build person-centric clouds (instead of application-centric ones). Etienne Rivière and Pascal Felber representing LEADS will work with CloudSpaces partners to identify possible synergies between the two projects, leveraging the intersection existing in both projects' objectives towards future cloud infrastructures.

Minos Garofalakis from TSI gave a keynote talk last week to the 8th ACM International Conference on Distributed Event Based Systems (DEBS 2014). DEBS is an important conference covering topics relevant to event based computing, as big-data and real-time analytics, mobile and pervasive computing, sensors networks and the internet-of-things, or cloud and peer-to-peer computing.

CloudDP 2014 is the Fourth International Workshop on Cloud Data and Platforms, co-located with EuroSys 2014.

The workshop will take place next week (April 13) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

LEADS will be represented in the European Future Internet Assembly 2014 in Athens with a poster. The European Future Internet Assembly is a collaboration between projects that have recognized the need to strengthen European activities on the Future Internet to maintain European competitiveness in the global marketplace.

CloudDP 2014 is the Fourth International Workshop on Cloud Data and Platforms, co-located with EuroSys 2014 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on April 13, 2014.

CloudDP's paper submission deadline has been extended to Feburary 10, 2014.

Our next physical meeting will take place on 10-12 February, in Red Hat's premises at Baker Street in London. We will further advance our work in integrating our work packages implementations, converge on further developments for the second year, and finalise our deliverables for month 18.

LEADS will participate in the next Concertation Meeting – Software and Services, Cloud, a 2-day workshop in Brussels for all active FP7 projects of Unit E2 from DG CONNECT, 12-13 March 2014. The event will be organised by the FP7 project CloudWATCH. We hope we can meet you there!
